It’s quite amazing how people don’t understand that basic concepts of surviving life is practically said and taught in every design study ever made. We’re taught that the basic principles of design are Proportion, Balance, Rhythm, Contrast, Unity, Emphasis, and Harmony. I’m sure that most of you know what those are, now, relate that to the principles were taught on how to live accordingly to each other and ourselves.
Doesn’t it make sense that we do need those principles to understand, or to even explain the reasoning behind actions and words. Let’s take Rhythm for example. How is Rhythm defined in Design? Rhythm is the movement in which elements iterate regularly. It is the flow of objects creating a stimulating sensation or “rhythm.” If you ask yourself how can you relate the flow of anything to make your lives more stimulating or sensible. The things we do, act upon, relate, use, or give importance to, create a certain flow or rhythm into how we live. After this rhythm of sensational stimulation, Harmony takes into place. We bound ourselves into an infinite loop of happiness and satisfaction. So, no matter what happens in a person’s life, he or she lives in complete rhythm and harmony, that even if something unusual happens, this person would know how to “get back on track.” I say that because the over-all chemical balance of this concept is something a person should achieve to be able to design their lives to be better or rather, know HOW to live better.
Go back to the basics. It makes complete sense and you’ll figure out how to do things and make things better for yourself and others.
